From Booklist
Sent to her room after grabbing a toy from her baby sister, D. W. finds the 10-minute timeout interminable. But when her mother asks her to watch baby Kate for a minute, the sulking D. W. is quickly won over by her smiling sister"s offer of a pacifier. It"s a quick fix for sibling troubles and a sweet ending for the story, but even preschoolers know that problems are seldom so easily resolved. Still, the story is simple, the pictures are deftly drawn, and any new picture book about these popular characters will be in demand for the foreseeable future. Buy accordingly. Carolyn Phelan

PreSchool-Grade 3-D.W. is back, and this time she is being punished for pinching her baby sister and snatching her block. While banished to her room for 10 minutes, D.W. begins to feel sorry for herself, believing that she is being treated as a slave by her family and fearing that she may starve before her punishment is up. When Mother brings Kate to D.W."s room to be watched, D.W. at first resents the additional chore foisted upon her, but soon she and Kate are playing happily, and dinnertime comes too soon. Once again, Brown captures the essence of family dynamics in words and pictures, showing the youngster"s self-pity, frustration, and eventual happiness with life in general.
